Policy approved for highly needed educators salary supplements

The Davis School District Board of Education approved policy 2HR-114 that outlines policies related to salary supplements for highly needed educators.

This policy aligns with Senate Bill 173 passed by the Utah Legislature in 2024, which allows local education agencies to define high-need teaching areas based on district-specific data. Under the new system, qualifying educators will share a district-allocated funding pool, replacing the previous fixed supplement amount.

A committee of educators, administrators and parents will identify high-need areas based on personnel data, including subject matter and school location.

The district will maintain existing qualifications for the current school year and implement the new process moving forward.

In other action the School Board:

  • Approved the West Point City Interlocal Agreement for use of the gymnasium facilities at Horizon Junior High School.

  • Approved a study to address low English class enrollment in grades 4-6 at Eagle Bay Elementary.

  • Approved the 2026 board meeting calendar.

  • Approved the Head Start/Early Head Start report as presented by Director Marianne Henderson.

  • Approved a new policy that outlines Employee Time and Attendance on a first reading.

  • Approved the 2025-2026 Curriculum Review Committee for Human Sexuality Materials.
